Ashley and John’s love story began on the evening of January 3, 2019. Ashley had left work after having a lousy day to grab some food and drinks from a local restaurant. Ashley contemplated going out that night, but she decided to go because an acquaintance of hers was bartending. When Ashley walked in, there was only one seat left at the crowded bar. “Is anyone sitting here?” she asked the gentleman next to the empty chair. “No,” John said. So, she sat down and ordered a drink while overhearing John chatting with his friends. After introducing themselves to one another, the two shared a small conversation before John was called across the bar by one of his friends. Minutes later, another friend of his said, “Dang man, you just left the lady sitting over there by herself.” Being flirtatious, Ashley replied, “I know, right! Just left me all by myself.” John then advised Ashley that he was coming right back. Shortly after his friends left, Ashley and John began a conversation that would last for a while, which led them to exchange phone numbers.

Fast forward to November 2020; the two had been in a relationship for a little over a year. Ashley and her best friend were planning a double date night with their significant others, one where her best friend kept a secret about the evening to come. Unbeknownst to Ashley, her proposal was already in the works. Once everyone met up at Skyview Atlanta, her best friend asked had she and John taken a picture in front of the Ferris wheel yet. When Ashley said no, her friend then volunteered to snap a few photos of the couple. As Ashley began to walk over to view the pictures, John grabbed her hand and got down on one knee. He asked Ashley if she would spend the rest of her life with him, and of course, she said YES!
